BORUSAN PIPE

After graduating from Istanbul High School, he completed his undergraduate studies in Economics and Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham University in England. He then received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA. In 1990, he completed the OPM (Owner/President Management) program at Harvard University Business School in the USA. Ahmet Kocabıyık started his professional career as a pattern engineer at Blaw-Knox Foundry in Pittsburgh, USA in 1980; he has served in various positions at Borusan Group since 1983. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Borusan Group. Ahmet Kocabıyık was awarded the “Cross of Honor for Science and Art” by the Austrian Government and the “Gold Medal in the Arts” by the Kennedy Center Foundation in the USA. In 2013, he was awarded an Honorary Doctoral Degree by Istanbul Technical University for his contributions to society in the fields of education, culture and arts. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation and one of the Founding Members of the Efes Foundation.

Semih Abidin Özmen, who has held senior positions at Borusan Pipe since 1988, started his career at Isuzu Motors in 1983 after completing his undergraduate and doctoral studies in Mechanical Engineering at Birmingham University. In 1986-1987, Özmen continued his professional activities in Japan at the headquarters of the same company to specialize in the design and production of steel parts, and he joined the Borusan family in 1988 as the Manager Responsible for New Product Design. Between 1992 and 2016, he served as Borusan Pipe Vice President of Purchasing and Supply Chain, Executive Vice President of Automotive Pipes Segment and Borusan Pipe CEO, respectively. Since 2017, Mr. Özmen has served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Borusan Pipe , and in 2023, he assumed the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Borusan Berg Pipe. Carrying Borusan Pipe, one of the world’s most important steel pipe manufacturers, forward, Özmen is also among the key contributors to the formation of the company’s global growth vision.

Born in Istanbul in 1967, Erkan Kafadar joined Borusan Group as a management trainee in 1991 at Borusan Birleşik Boru Fabrikaları. During his 33 years of career at Borusan, Erkan Kafadar held various positions in Sales, Marketing, Technical Customer Services, and Purchasing at Borusan Pipe and Borçelik, before serving as the General Manager of Borçelik for 9 years. Between the years 2015 and 2019, he served as a member of the Executive Board and the Steering Committee of Borusan Holding; since 1 January 2020, he has been working as Borusan Holding Group CEO. In addition to his position as the Group CEO of Borusan Holding, Erkan Kafadar serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Board Member in all operational companies of the Borusan Group. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Employers’ Association of Metal Industries (MESS), a member of the Turkish Industry & Business Association (TÜSİAD), a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Turkish Confederation of Employer Associations (TİSK), and a member of the Board of Directors of Sabancı University Istanbul International Center For Energy and Climate (IICEC). After completing his secondary education at Istanbul High School, Erkan Kafadar graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Business Administration. He speaks English and German. He is married with two daughters.

Graduated with a double major from the Departments of Economics and Psychology at New York University in 2014. Following her work in various start-ups, she started her role as a Business Development and Marketing Analyst at Borusan Pipe US, a part of Borusan Group, in Houston, USA in 2015. Between 2015 and 2019, she worked as Sales Supervisor in the export department of Borusan Pipe. At present, she is serving as a Member of the Board of Directors in Borusan Pipe and Borusan Makina ve Güç Sistemleri – Caterpillar, and Borusan Automotive Group. Furthermore, she continues her role as a member of Borusan Holding Audit Department and Ethics Committee in addition to heading the CVC Investment Committee of Borusan Corporate Venture Fund.

Received his master’s degree in International Relations from Istanbul University in 1993 following his graduation from the Department of Economics at Boğaziçi University in 1992. He served as the Deputy Manager at Yatırım Bank from 1994 to 1996. After having worked as the Manager at Dundas Ünlü between 1996 and 2002, Romano started heading the Corporate Finance Unit at Standard Ünlü. Romano is currently the Managing Director of the Corporate Finance Unit at ÜNLÜ & Co. Being also a member of the Executive Board responsible for Investment Banking Consultancy, Romano continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors at ÜNLÜ & Co. İbrahim Romano is an independent board member at Borusan Pipe.

Having graduated from the Department of Business Administration at the Middle East Technical University in 1980, Bülent Bozdoğan started working as an independent auditor at PwC. From 1982 to 1991, he assumed a variety of management positions at the finance and commerce departments of Unilever Türkiye. In 1991, he joined Brisa, a company within Sabancı Group, as Deputy General Manager Responsible for Finance, Planning, and Control Functions. Between 2001 and 2009, he served as CFO at DUSA International LLC – a joint venture of Sabancı and Du Pont with headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware – and later at Kordsa Global A.Ş. after the company had been acquired by Sabancı Holding. From 2009 to 2017, he was the Head of the Audit Department at Sabancı Holding. After 26 years at Sabancı Holding, he retired at 62 years old as per the company policies. He served as CEO at Dedeman Holding which was active in the mining and tourism sectors in the 2018-2019 period. He currently is an independent board member at Carrefoursa, Akçansa, Kordsa Indonesia, and Borusan Pipe.

Having received his master’s degree in Finance and International Relations from Columbia University (MBA-1983) following his undergraduate education in Mechanical Engineering, Tayfun Bayazıt started his banking career at Citibank. He then assumed senior executive roles at Çukurova Group companies, namely Yapı Kredi (Executive Vice President), Interbank (General Manager), and Banque de Commerce et de Placement S.A. Switzerland (CEO), for 13 years. After being appointed as Vice Chairman at Doğan Holding and Executive Director at Dışbank in 1999, he started serving as CEO at Dışbank in 2001. Mr. Bayazıt was elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2003, and he was appointed as CEO at Fortis Türkiye and became a member of the global executive committee at Fortis after it acquired majority shares of Dışbank in July 2005. At the General Assembly held in 2006, he was elected the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fortis Türkiye. In 2007, he returned to Yapı Kredi (UniCredit and Koç partnership) as an Executive Director and General Manager, and he started serving as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the bank in 2009. Mr. Bayazıt left his position at Yapı Kredi in August 2011 in order to start his management and consultancy firm. He currently serves as an independent board member at some publicly-traded companies in addition to his roles as the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Polisan Holding, Marsh McLennan Group-Türkiye, and Aura Portföy. Alongside his membership at the High Advisory Council of TÜSİAD, Mr. Bayazıt assumes active roles in civil society organizations such as the Global Relations Forum, the Educational Volunteers Foundation of Türkiye (TEGV), Darüşşafaka Society, and World Resources Institute

Zafer Atabey started his career at Borusan Pipe in 1991 and played an active role at the company's Marketing and Sales department for 10 years. Having been appointed to management of Vobarno - Italy plant as Trade Manager in 2001, Atabey was appointed as General Manager of the said plant in 2005. 

Atabey, who returned to Turkey after such experience, was appointed, in 2008, as Vice President of Sales and Procurement at Borusan Boru, and, in 2013, as a member of Board of Directors of Borusan Pipe US Inc. Having been appointed as Vice President of Borusan Boru Executive Committee in 2015, Atabey has been Borusan Pipe CEO and President of Executive Committee since January 2017. 

Atabey graduated from Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Boğaziçi University. 

Anıl Karaca, throughout his career which he started at PWC as auditor, took over management of Financial Reporting and Financial Control functions at Anadolu Efes from 2004 to 2012. After working as CFO at Efes Kazakhstan organization from 2012 to 2014, Karaca worked as CFO at Çelik Motor FROM 2014 to 2016.   Karaca, who led the company's financial leasing function, held different managerial positions at Şişecam Group from 2016 to 2022. After working as CFO of Düz Cam group from 2016 to 2017, Karaca acted as General Manager of Şişecam Otomotiv from 2017 to 2022. Karaca has been Member of Executive Committee in charge of Financial Affairs and Foreign Trade at Borusan Pipe since 2022.  

Karaca graduated from Business Administration Informatics, University of Marmara. 

Uğur Onbaşı started his career, in 1996, at Eleks Dış Ticaret as Export Sales Specialist. Onbaşı who worked at Ekinciler Dış Ticaret in 1998 joined Borusan Pipe as Senior Export Specialist in 1999. He acted as Project Manager for 6 Sigma Black Belt Projects from 2004 to 2006 and was appointed as Borusan Pipe Raw Material Purchasing Manager in 2007. Onbaşı, appointed in January 2013 as Borusan Pipe Infrastructure Project Segment Trade Director, has been working as Vice President of Infrastructure Project Segment Trade and Production from 2015 until 2024. He has been appointed as the President of Borusan Berg Pipe as of July 9th , 2024.

Onbaşı graduated from International Relations in English, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, University of Marmara. 

Ali Okyay started his career in 2000 at Borusan Boru as Domestic Sales Specialist. From 2003 to 2006, he acted as a manager for Borusan Group's 6 Sigma Black Belt Projects. Within structure of Borusan Boru, Okyay continued his career in 2006 as Export Manager, was appointed, in 2013, as Automotive and White Appliances Segment Manager, in 2014, as Sales Director for Automotive and White Appliances Segment. After being appointed as Vice President, Purchasing and Supply Chain in 2017, Okyay has been working as Vice President, Automotive and White Appliances Segment, since November 2019. 

Okyay graduated from Industrial Engineering Department, Boğaziçi University. 

Oğuzhan Kuşçuoğlu started his career in 2001 at Maersk Line in the field of business development. In 2004, he joined Borusan Boru as Export Sales Manager and became Export Sales Manager in 2011.  Having been appointed as Export Sales Director in 2015, Kuşçuoğlu has been responsible for Construction and General Industry Segment since 2017, and Purchasing and Supply became part of his responsibility since 2019.  

Kuşçuoğlu graduated from Economics Department, Boğaziçi University. 

She started her career as an English teacher in 2003. She worked as the Human Resources Manager at Yazaki Otomotiv Yan Sanayi from 2005 to 2014, and she managed Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety functions. She worked at Autoliv Cankor Otomotiv as the Country Human Resources and Administrative Affairs Manager as well as Autoliv European Region Remuneration and Benefits Coordinator 2014 to 2021. Alhan has been a Member of Executive Committee in charge of Human and Sustainability at Borusan Pipe since 2021. 

Alhan graduated from Department of English Linguistics, University of Hacettepe and has an MBA degree from University of Bahçeşehir. 

Serdar Birlikçi started his career in 1995 at Microsoft as part of Technical Support team. From 1996 to 2002, Birlikçi who worked at different positions at Ericsson acted as a manager in different IT fields such as technology and operations, project management, quality and compliance. Having worked as IT Director of such company in charge of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Israel, Birlikçi advanced his career, launching his own venture which offered business development technology solutions. Following such experience, Birlikçi who worked at different positions ranging from Business Solutions Manager to CIO within Pepsico group from 2003 to 2019 also lead Global Agile Transformation across the company. Having worked as CIO at Groupama Insurance from 2019 to 2022, Birlikçi has been a Member of the Executive Committee in charge of Borusan Pipe Digital Technologies and New Product since 2022.  

Birlikçi graduated from Department of Electronics Engineering, University of Hacettepe, and has an MBA from University of Sabancı.  

Josh Croix started his career in 1997 at Bredero Shaw as a Project Engineer in Scotland. He has worked in various roles of increasing responsibility in Nigeria, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the USA, and Brazil, reaching the managing director level. Josh transitioned to a commercial role with Bredero Shaw before working as Director of Business Development and Marketing in 2010 for Pipestream, a Shell Technology Venture.  Josh joined Borusan Pipe in 2013 as VP of Business Development and Marketing, then worked as Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Operating Officer before being promoted to President of Borusan Pipe USA in 2024. 

Josh earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and a certificate in Advanced Management from Rice University. 

Dimitris Dimopoulos joined the company in October 2011 and has over 25 years of experience in producing large-diameter steel pipes for the energy sector in various technical and commercial roles focusing on quality, technology, sales, purchasing, and strategy. He serves as the executive board member responsible for the technical and quality of Borusan Pipe's US Operations.

Dimitris holds a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and a Diploma in Management Studies from the ALBA Graduate Business School in Greece.

Joel Johnson started his career in 1992 at Bredero Shaw as Project Coordinator in Scotland and progressively took additional roles while working around the world focused on coating oil & gas line pipe. Joel joined Welspun Tubular in 2008 and was the Vice President of Sales for North and South America for five years. He then took a role as President and CEO at OMK Tube, Inc. until 2014. He joined Borusan Pipe US as CEO in 2015 and, in 2024, moved to be on the Executive Board of Borusan Berg Pipe and Advisor to the Chairman of the Executive Committee of Borusan Pipe.

Joel has a BSc in Construction Management Engineering from North Dakota State University and an MBA from Heriott-Watt University in Scotland.
